Bring the whole family out for a memorable day on the water at the 9th Annual Children’s Fishing Derby, happening Saturday, October 4th, 2025, from 8 AM to 1 PM at Windsor 4, Lake Havasu State Park. This free community event invites kids and families to enjoy fishing, fun, and the natural beauty of Lake Havasu City.
Free Fishing Fun for Kids and Families
This special event is designed for children ages 4 to 17. The first 200 kids who attend and need a fishing rod will receive a free fishing rod and reel to keep (first come, first served – children must be present). Throughout the morning, participants can join interactive fishing clinics, take part in games, and learn valuable angling tips from experienced volunteers.
Licensing and Event Details
While the derby is free to attend, children 10 years and older must have a valid Arizona fishing license. Licenses are easy to purchase online through the Arizona Game & Fish Department. Parents are encouraged to secure licenses ahead of time to make check-in smooth.
Why This Event Matters
The Children’s Fishing Derby is more than just a fun day—it helps introduce the next generation to Lake Havasu’s thriving outdoor lifestyle and the importance of environmental stewardship. By encouraging children to connect with nature and learn about responsible fishing practices, the event supports both family recreation and local conservation efforts.
